Default Cutlist FX

I used sketchup to create my cut list for a while. You know, create a component called plywood, then start moving the parts, rotate flip then try to get them on the same plane to lay on the plywood component. I also tried the cutlist plugin in sketchup, but got frustrated. Then I found Cutlist Fx. The free version limits you to only a few parts. I tried it out and found most of my projects fall in the less than 50 so I bought the Silver edition. I really like the interface and options to specify how I want my material broken down (Cross cut or rip cut). This is crucial since I use the EZ-one to cut out all my parts.

Here is the link

If anyone know of a similar application let me know. Always looking for better ways to layout my cuts.

John

I use this:

http://delphiforfun.org/programs/cutlist.htm

Doesn't have the best human interface but it's free and does a great optimization job.

For larger jobs I find it easier to create the job then edit it in something like notepad. I have even imported Excel info into the file.

Cultists fx also has an app for Android called Cultists Viewer. You can upload your plans to a cloud server and then view them on your phone, etc.

Mad Mac,

I have used the App. Great for the shop if you don't print out the report.

I used cutlist a few years ago but was frustrated by the part limitations for the silver and express edition -- and I couldn't afford the gold edition. My neighbour turned me on to a product called Offcuts (http://hoopsoup.com/offcuts) which does everything I need. I only paid something like $40 for the version that has no limitations.

The one thing they don't have is mobile support which would be*nice*when I buy my lumber, but for $40....

CAUTION regarding "http://delphiforfun.org/programs/cutlist.htm":

This sounded like a great possibility for me. But I received some security warnings, and have to forget it for now.

Foxpro, or perhaps some add-on I have, puts up a very clear warning about the software on the website. "Reported unwanted software page"

I opened up a sandbox program, which allows an additional level of protection when browsing the web. I went to download the software, thinking to throw a couple of virus checkers at it. But the download was blocked with a warning that the download file contained malware or a virus. I let it go at that.

The webpage the url points to comes up cleanly. The text on the page reads extremely legitimate. I'm familiar with the programming language which adds to my initial trust of the content, and the tone of the text also seems quite legitimate. But websites get hacked all the time, and it's very possible the programmer/owner of the site is unaware of possible problems. I look forward to giving it another try sometime soon. And I thank the contributors to this thread and the rest of the forum.

Judd

I've been using Offcuts. Offers all the capabilities of CutList Plus that I need but at a fraction of the price. http://www.hoopsoup.com/Offcuts. I paid only $20.
